Call Whisper

The Call Whisper option allows the destination number (B Party) to be presented with custom audio when they pick up the phone. This can be used as a prompt to allow the B Party to answer the call appropriately based on what they hear. The caller and the destination number parties are then connected together.

When the B Party picks up the phone they will hear the system generated Pre-Whisper Audio "Incoming Call For.....", if it has been enabled, followed by the custom audio configured for that service. The system generated Pre-Whisper Audio can be enabled or disabled on a per Service basis. The Call Whisper option can be configured to present the whisper message to the B Party and to repeat it ('Whisper Repeat') a configured number of times (between 1 and 10) before automatically connecting the A and B Party together. The gap between repeated audios is 1 second.

The Call Whisper option can also be configured so the destination number (B Party) must choose to accept the call ('Whisper Accept') by pressing the DTMF β€˜1’ key on their telephone keypad, or to reject the call by hanging up or by pressing DTMF β€˜2’. When in this mode, the Whisper audio will repeat continuously until the B-Party hangs up, accepts or rejects the call. When a call is rejected the A Party will continue down the RNR branch - if this has been configured. This does not apply to the Queue or DCA nodes*. If Whisper Repeat is set to 1, the Whisper Audio is followed by 3 seconds of silence in order that the B Party has time to hear the Whisper and react accordingly.

Note that in some circumstances (if the B Party’s phone is a residential line, for example) when they clear down (i.e. they want to reject the call), it may cause the A-party leg to clear too, even if the RNR branch is configured. To avoid this behaviour, the B-party should press the DTMF β€˜2’ key and wait for their line to clear before replacing the handset.

The caller (A Party) hears ring-tone during playback of the whisper message to the destination number (B Party). The parameters to configure Whisper are as follows:

  • Enable: Enables or disabled Call Whisper.

  • Whisper Audio: The audio that is played to the B-party. This is optional when Dynamic Whisper is enabled.

  • Whisper Accept: When enabled, the B-Party must press 1 to accept or 2 to reject. If the B-Party does not accept the call the A-Party will continue down the RNR Branch*. When disabled, the whisper audio is repeated the number of times specified in the Whisper Repeat property, then A and B are connected.

  • Whisper Repeat: Number of times to repeat the Whisper Audio. When set to "Unlimited", Whisper Accept must be enabled.

  • Disable Pre-Whisper Audio: When enabled, the pre-whisper audio 'Incoming Call For...' is not played prior to the whisper audio.

  • Dynamic Enabled: When enabled, audio representing the Dynamic Whisper alpha numeric characters will be played. Note that the Whisper Audio file can be used in conjunction with Dynamic Whisper, where it will be played before the Dynamic Whisper sequence. The party responsible for DTMF input (see the Start node) can key in '30' to repeat the dynamic whisper at any point during the conversation between the calling and called parties.

  • Dynamic Whisper: The alpha numeric characters (i.e. 0-9, A-Z) to be played as audio.

  • Dynamic Digit Delay: Increases the gap between the audio for each Dynamic Whisper character. The smallest gap is 0.1secs, the largest 2secs. Note that the individual audio files which contain the alphanumeric characters are recorded with an opening and closing 0.1s segment of silence.

  • Dynamic Use Phonetic: When enabled, any alpha characters in the Dynamic Whisper property will be played using the Phonetic Alphabet - e.g. Alpha for A, Bravo for B...Zulu for Z.
